
England captain Steven Gerrard says he needs more time to make a decision on his international future.
The 34-year-old Liverpool midfielder won his 113th cap inThursday's 2-1 defeat by Uruguay,which effectivelyended England'sWorld Cup hopes.
He said: "There is no truth I'll be making any announcement on my England future in the next week. I need more time than that."I'm still hurting and I'm still broken from the last couple of weeks.
"England play their last game in Brazil against Costa Rica on Tuesday, after Luis Suarez's double for Uruguay condemned England to their second successive defeat in Group D following anopening lossto Italy.
Gerrard is two appearances short of David Beckham's outfield caps record of 115 and said before the tournamenthe would make a decision on his England careerafter the World Cup.It was the captain's misjudged header that allowed Liverpool team mate Suarez to score Uruguay's late winner but he is confident England canstill enjoy a bright future.
Gerrard, whose 14-year international career includes three World Cups and three European Championships, said: "I don't know what the plans are going forward.
I do agree with what the manager has said that the talent is in the group."The talent is there. At the moment, it is very difficult for myself, the players, to find a lot of positives."When you look at the bigger picture, things can change very quickly in football.
"I think we have got world-class players and I think we've got players with world-class potential.
But these tournaments only come around every two years. We'll have to wait and see."
